|
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup buttermilk
In a medium mixing bowl, combine flours, baking powder, sugar, and salt; mix well. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. A food processor works great. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.
Turn out whole wheat biscuit dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 5 or 6 times. Roll wheat biscuit dough to 1 inch thick; cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for allotted time or until lightly browned. Serve warm with honey butter.
